Marvin Bell, Rob Ryan and Scott Bruce
Doors Open at 8:00pm.
In the quiet spring of 1982, St. Louis postal employee Marvin Bell embarked on a journey that would take him places he had only dreamed of. Marvin Bell made his debut as a stand-up comedian. The veteran comedy duo of Zack and Mack were in attendance at that debut. They assured Marvin Bell that he was on the right track and quickly invited him to come sharpen his skills at their weekly on stage workshop at Maurice’s Goldcoast Lounge near downtown St. Louis.
Two short years later, Marvin Bell found himself performing throughout Missouri and Illinois when a short video tape earned him the honor of being named "Showtime’s Funniest Person in Missouri" as part of the cable network’s Funniest Person in America contest. By the end of 1985, Marvin Bell had said good-bye to the post office and hello to the world of comedy clubs, colleges and ‘the road’.
Rob Ryan, like many comedy greats, hails from Long Island and has taken New York City by storm. After graduating valedictorian from Stony Brook University Rob immediately threw out his degree and relentlessly pursued stand-up comedy.
Rob is no stranger to writing having been a contributing writer for a number of sketch comedy groups in New York and L.A. Rob has recently teamed up with ‘The Reel Public’, an on-line sketch comedy group, and has written several on-line viral video hits for them. His work has been described as “witty” and “almost genius” by the DC Shorts Film Festival.
If you frequent your local comedy club you may have caught stand-up standout Scott Bruce. It’s hard to find a venue that has not taken advantage of his many and varied talents. You may catch him on a cruise ship, at a nightclub in Las Vegas or a Moose Lodge in rural Pennsylvania. The one thing you are guaranteed is a good time and a lot of laughs. His quick wit, ad-libbing ability and natural timing make not just a great comic, but also one of the most sought after MC’s working today.
